MJF demands exemplary punishment
Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) has condemned the rape and killing of a physically challenged indigenous woman in Bandarban and rape of an 11-year-old girl in Chattogram on Sunday.
In a statement, the rights group yesterday alleged that the indigenous women and children of Chattogram Hill Tracts are being victim of human rights violations for not ensuring exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
MJF urged the government to take effective steps to eliminate sexual violence against women and children in the CHT regions and demanded a quick trial of the perpetrators.
Lakaching Tanchangya, 26, of Jolontomoni Tanchangya para of Alikadom upazila, was found hanging from a tree in Ashoti Tripura para in the evening of November 25.
Her body bore several injury marks and it seemed she had been raped before being murdered, said police.
The same day, an 11-year-old was allegedly raped by her tutor Aktarul Alam, 68, in Boalkhali of Chattogram.
