DU student raped in Kurmitola

A female student of Dhaka University was raped allegedly by an unknown man in Dhaka’s Kurmitola area today.

The incident happened this evening after the girl, a student of Ruqayyah Hall, got down from a Dhaka University bus in Kurmitola area, Abdul Khan, assistant sub-inspector of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp told The Daily Star.

She is the second-year student of the university, private television channel Somoy TV reports

Contacted, Qazi Shahan, officer-in-charge of Cantonment Police Station, told The Daily Star that an unknown man picked up the girl, took her to a secret place and raped her after she got down from the bus in Kurmitola in a bid to go to her friend’s house in shewra area.

Police are trying to arrest the culprit, added the police official.

The victim was admitted to One-stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of DMCH, said Bachchu Miah, inspector of the DMCH police camp.
