Cycle rally held in Dhaka to mark Gandhi’s birthday
The High Commission of India in Dhaka today arranged a cycle rally to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das and Vice Chancellor of the university prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman were present in the rally held on Dhaka University premises around 10:30am.
This year, the Government of India is conducting celebrations across the world in a befitting manner in memory of Mahatma Gandhi and this cycling event is part of the celebrations, according to a press release of the High Commission.
Members of Dhaka University Cycling Club took part in the event, it read.
Urging the youngsters to carry forward the message of Mahatma Gandhi, Riva Ganguly Das said, "We are living in a time when the messages and ideas of Mahatma Gandhi are more relevant than that of the time in which he lived. Even now, his life and messages inspire millions across the world."
