New Indian visa application centre to be inaugurated in Dhaka
A new integrated state-of-the-art Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) will be inaugurated at the Jamuna Future Park in Dhaka tomorrow.
Home ministers of India and Bangladesh will jointly inaugurate the new IVAC in the morning, according to a statement issued today by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
This new IVAC at Jamuna Future Park will replace all existing IVACs (Motijheel, Uttara, Gulshan and Mirpur Road) in Dhaka to become the only IVAC in the capital for all categories of Indian visa applications without prior appointments, the statement read.
The new IVAC will replace the existing IVACs at Motijheel and Uttara from July 15 and the remaining two IVACs at Gulshan and Mirpur Road will also be shifted there by August 31.
Meanwhile, the existing e-token (appointment) system for submission of Indian visa applications will also be withdrawn, it added.
The new IVAC in Jamuna Future Park, with an 18,500 square feet commercial area, will be a model visa centre and have facilities like computer-generated token vending machines which will indicate expected waiting time, comfortable seats in an air-conditioned waiting area, coffee and soft drinks vending machines, food kiosks and 48 counters for submission of applications.
Separate counters will be reserved for senior citizens, women, freedom fighters and business applicants, the statement read.
A special help desk and counter for services like printing and photocopying will be accessible in exchange of money. The new is expected to provide comfortable and seamless visa services to applicants and reduce waiting time considerably.
“The consolidation of visa application services at the Jamuna Future Park and the provision of amenities reflect the continuing efforts of the High Commission of India, in collaboration with its outsourced partners, the State Bank of India, to further streamline the Indian visa application process and strengthen people-to-people contacts between India and Bangladesh,” the statement read.
