Nephew gets death for killing 2 aunts, 3 others in Narayanganj

A man was awarded the death penalty today for murdering his two aunts, two cousins and another of the same family in Narayanganj last year.
Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Begum Hosne Ara Akter passed the order in presence of lone accused Mahfuz, our local correspondent reports.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The court also fined Tk 5,000 to the convict, Public Prosecutor Wazed Ali Khokhon said.
The convict is the nephew of plaintiff Shafiqul Islam, who lost his wife Taslima Begum, and two children – Sumaiya, 5, and Shantu, 10, and sister Lamia, 25, – to the hands of Mahfuz.
The other victim was Taslima’s brother Morshedul, 22.

A day after the killing in January 16, 2016, Shafiqul filed the murder case against unidentified miscreants with Narayanganj Sadar Police Station. Mahfuz was arrested on that day.
Mahfuz later confessed that he and his associates killed the five persons.
