Man slaughtered at home in Dhaka

A middle-aged man was stabbed and slaughtered to death allegedly by the household help in broad daylight at his Gendaria residence in Dhaka city today.

The deceased was identified as Sunny Sarkar, 45, a resident of Alamganj area in the locality.

Yeasmin Begum, the deceased’s sister, alleged that Jumman alias Sagor, a househelp at the building, had killed her brother. However, she could not tell of the motive behind the killing.

Md Mishal, an A-level student and the deceased’s nephew, took Sunny, in a critical condition, to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 2:00pm. Police held Mishal for questioning in this connection.

Enamul Haque, a sub-inspector of Gendaria Police Station told The Daily Star that drives were on to detain Sagor for his alleged involvement in the killing.
