DSCC team to inspect houses to destroy Aedes mosquitoes: Mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will start drastic inspection in houses of the city to find out larva of Aedes mosquito, which is the carrier of dengue and Chikungunya virus.

“Monitoring teams comprising of its officials and volunteers will be formed to inspect different houses to find out breeding grounds and mosquito larva,” said DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon at a press conference held on his three-year tenure at Nagar Bhaban today.

The teams will destroy larva if they find any mosquito breeding ground in a house, he said adding that they will also raise awareness among the residents on it.

“The house will remain under our constant observation if any mosquito larva is found there. We will take action against them if we find mosquito larva second time,” said mayor.

The city dwellers had to face sudden attack of Chikungunya virus which spread fast last year, the mayor said while recalling last year’s experience.

He also urged the dwellers to help the DSCC teams to destroy all breeding grounds of Aedes mosquito.
