SC upholds bail of 3 Apan Jewellers owners
The Supreme Court today upheld the High Court verdict that granted bail to three owners of Apan Jewellers -- Dildar Ahmed, Gulzar Ahmed and Azad Ahmed -- in three separate money laundering cases.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by acting chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah dismissed three leave-to-appeal petitions filed by the government challenging the High Court verdict that granted bail to them.
Gulzar Ahmed and Azad Ahmed will get released from jail following the Supreme Court while Dildar Ahmed cannot get released as he has been shown arrested in two other cases, Advocate AM Aminuddin and Barrister Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury, lawyers for the accused, told The Daily Star.
On December 14, last year, the High Court granted bail to Dildar, Azad and Gulzar in the three separate money laundering cases.
