Avijit killing: 3 Ansarullah men on 7-day remand
A Dhaka court today placed three members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team on a seven-day remand each in connection with blogger Avijit Roy killing case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan passed the order after Fazlur Rahman, inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police, produced them before the court with a 10-day remand prayer for each.
The investigators primarily knew that the arrestees were directly involved with the killing and therefore they need to be remanded to find out the other accused in the case, said Fazlur, also the investigation officer of the case.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested the ABT members including its chief from Fakirapool area in Dhaka yesterday for their alleged involvement in the killing of bloggers Avijit Roy and Ananta Bijoy Das.
Avijit Roy was killed by assailants on the footpath along Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on February 26 while Ananta Bijoy Das met the same fate at Subid Bazar in Sylhet city on May 12 this year.
