5000 tortoises seized in Dhaka, 1 held

Law enforcers today seized around 5,000 tortoises and detained one in this connection from Ashkona near Dhaka airport.

Tipped off, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-1 and Wild Life Crime Control Unit of Forest department jointly raided a house in Ashkona Medical College road and seized around 5,000 tortoises and around 50 luggages, said ASP Rajib of Rab-1.

One Md Hafiz, 40, was detained in connection with the incident, the Rab official added.
