1 held with 3.27 lakh Saudi riyal at Dhaka airport
Customs intelligence has arrested a man along with 3.27 lakh Saudi riyal equivalent to Tk 72.62 lakh at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
A team of customs intelligence arrested Sobhan Sheikh, a resident of Shreenagar of Munshiganj, after he landed at the airport from Malaysia around 10:10pm last night by MH 196, according to the Facebook page of Customs intelligence.
Later, they recovered the Saudi currency from his procession.
In a primary interrogation, Sobhan said he was carrying the foreign currency illegally in a bid to buy gold here, the Facebook post said.
27 gold bars seized at Ctg airport
Customs intelligence officials today detained a passenger with 27 gold bars, weighing 3 kilogramme, hidden inside his luggage at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong around 12noon.
The detainee was identified as Ali Akbor, 47, hailing from Hathazari upazila in the district.
Akbor arrived in Shah Amanat International Airport via a Dubai flight, said Alamgir Hossain, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Customs.
“His movement was suspicious. Hence, we challenged him, scanned his luggage and found the bars,” the official added.
