2 buses catch fire in Dhaka

Two buses including a BRTC bus caught fire in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar and Kurmitola areas this afternoon.

Sohag Mahmud, an operator at Fire Service Civil Defence headquarters, said a bus of Trust Service Limited caught fire suddenly in Karwan bazar around 2:45 pm while the bus was heading towards Shahbagh.

Besides, another bus of BRTC caught fire in Kurmitola around 3:30 pm, he told The Daily Star.

On information, separate teams of fire service doused the blaze of the two buses, he said.

There were no reports of any casualty, he said adding that the cause of the fire could not be known immediately.

A three-member probe body headed by BRTC Director (Technical) Coronel Mahbubur Rahman was formed to investigate the fire incident, BTRC spokesperson Amzad Hossain told The Daily Star.

The body was asked to submit its report within 48 hours, he said.

BTRC official also said the fire incident was not a subversive act.
