BRAC University Career Fair 2025 draws over 60 renowned employers

A two-day "BRAC University Career Fair 2025" ended on the university's Merul Badda campus in Dhaka on December 4, drawing over 60 renowned employers and enabling a number of internships and on-the-spot job offers.

City Bank PLC, Banglalink, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills (BSRM), Apex, BRAC Bank, BRAC, Chevron, bKash, Berger, ACI, and Square were among the entities that participated in the fair.

Organized by the Office of Career Services and Alumni Relations, the fair also offered an opportunity for graduates to engage with industry professionals, explore career prospects, and build professional networks.

BRAC University students are taught everything, from sweeping floors to serving as executives in top firms, said Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar at the fair's inauguration ceremony.

"The curriculum here not only develops careers but also focuses on what can be offered to the world and instills the fact that staying honest is difficult but provides dividends in the long run," he said.

BRAC University also focuses on social innovation with BRAC, making progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and working with the local industry for the adoption of the Economic, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, he said.

One of BRAC University's core strengths is its student-friendly environment, as the main objective is to ensure welfare for students, said Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury.

BRAC University is working to make internships a requirement of each program and formulating curricula that are compatible with industry needs, he said.

"Your first job may not be your dream job. But to build a good career, you need to be disciplined, have a mindset of patience and step out of your comfort zone," said Nishat Anwar, Head of Human Resources at City Bank PLC.

"To be successful in your career, you need to believe in yourself. You need to build yourself as a brand," she added.

Registrar Dr David Dowland and Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director of Student Life, also spoke at the inauguration ceremony.

Treasurer Ariful Islam, Professor Mohammad Mujibul Haque, Dean of BRAC Business School, Professor Md Golam Samdani Fakir, Director of the Learning and Teaching Innovation Centre, and Khairul Basher, Director of the Office of Communications, were also present.

In another session titled "Spotlight by City Bank", Md Arup Haider, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail Banking at City Bank PLC, advised students and graduates on ways to gain necessary career skills and opportunities in the banking sector.

"It is very important to build a career that is in harmony with one's goals and dreams," he said.

The banking sector requires good communication skills, as well as responsibility, transparency and respect for others, he said, shedding light on different activities of City Bank.
