Robi gets its first local CEO
Mobile operator Robi today announced Mahtab Uddin Ahmed as its first local chief executive officer and managing director.
Ahmed will replace Supun Weerasinghe to be effective from November 1, 2016, said a release.
After joining here Ahmed will be the first Bangladeshi CEO of any foreign mobile operator.
Weerasinghe will return to Dialog Axiata Plc (Dialog) in Sri Lanka.
In the release, Robi said as part of its ongoing efforts towards developing and promoting talents from within the operator they have changed their CEO.
Ahmed, currently seconded to Axiata Group for a special assignment, will return to Robi’s leadership team from September 1, 2016 as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, leading up to the completion of succession as CEO by November.
Earlier, Ahmed worked as chief operating officer of Robi from April 2014 to March 2016.
