ONE Bank launches Bangla QR awareness drive
ONE Bank PLC recently launched an awareness campaign on Bangla QR, Bangladesh’s national interoperable QR payment system, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to promoting digital financial inclusion and supporting the country’s transition towards a smarter, cash-lite economy.
The campaign aims to promote the features, benefits, and operational aspects of Bangla QR, enabling users to become informed ambassadors of the initiative.
As part of the campaign, employees will also gain hands-on experience in how Bangla QR simplifies everyday digital transactions.
Muhit Rahman, managing director of the bank, inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest, according to a press release.
Bangla QR is Bangladesh’s unified national QR payment standard that enables customers of participating banks, mobile financial service (MFS) providers, and payment service providers (PSPs) to make payments using a single QR code, regardless of the financial institution they use.
By replacing multiple proprietary QR codes with one interoperable platform, Bangla QR is expected to enhance convenience, reduce merchant costs, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate the country’s transition towards a secure and inclusive cashless economy.
As a participating institution in the Bangla QR ecosystem, ONE Bank is contributing to the expansion of interoperable digital payments through its digital platforms.
OK Wallet serves as both an issuer and an acquirer of Bangla QR, enabling customers to make payments and merchants to accept interoperable digital payments.
ONEApps serves as an issuer, allowing ONE Bank customers to securely scan Bangla QR codes and make payments to merchants.
Md Anwarul Islam, deputy managing director, chief legal officer, and head of the recovery division; Kazi Ziaul Islam, deputy managing director and head of financial services and the public sector; Iftekhar Ahmed Zafar, deputy managing director and head of the transaction and investment banking divisions; along with more than 200 senior officials of the bank, were also present.
