RMG workers’ holidays to start from April 20: BGMEA

The holidays for the garment workers will start in phases from April 20 as the Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated on April 22.

Faruque Hassan, president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), said the workers will be allowed to go for holidays in phases and zone-wise so the workers can travel to their village homes safely.

The BGMEA president also urged the factory owners to allow the workers to go for Eid holidays two or three days before the Eid if possible.

If any factory wants to finish the work orders for the shipment even during the vacation, the management of the factories should do such in consultation with the workers, he added.
