RFL Group opens second bicycle factory in Rangpur

RFL Group opened its second bicycle factory in Rangpur's Gangachara to meeting the growing demand in the local and export markets.

All bikes of the company which will be sold in the local market will be manufactured in this Tk 60-crore factory.

The factory will annually produce six lakh pieces of bicycles once it is fully operational, Pran-RFL Group Chairman and CEO Ahsan Khan Chowdhury said at the launch event held on the factory premises at Lalchandpur village in Rangpur.

RFL Group founded in Rangpur 42 years ago has been manufacturing bicycle since 2014.

The group exports bicycles to 15 countries, including Australia, England, Netherlands and Belgium.

The company set up its first bicycle factory at Shayestaganj of Habiganj in 2014.

Around 8 lakh bicycles a year are produced in the Habiganj factory, Pran-RFL Group chairman said at the opening of the Rangpur factory.

Along with assembling and manufacturing of bicycles, some spare parts, including frames, tubes, tyre forks, will also be produced at the 70,000 square-feet factory, he said.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi attended the launch event as the chief guest.

Opposition Chief Whip Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Mohammad Abdul Alim Mahmud, Senior Vice President of FBCCI Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu, Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur Chitralikha Naznen, Superintendent of Police Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and Managing Director of RFL Group RN Paul also spoke.
