new pay scale for government employees Bangladesh

The next elected government will decide on whether to implement a new pay scale for public servants, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said today.

He made the comment after meetings of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs at the Secretariat in Dhaka.

On 27 July, the government formed a pay commission to recommend a new salary structure for public officials and employees. The body is headed by Zakir Ahmed Khan, a former finance secretary and current chairman of Palli Karma‑Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

The commission has been asked to submit its report within six months.

Currently, government officials and employees receive salaries and allowances based on the 2015 pay scale. There are around 1.5 million government employees at present.
