New commerce secretary, Ataur Rahman Khan, takes charge

The newly appointed commerce secretary, Ataur Rahman Khan, today joined the ministry three weeks after being appointed by the government.

Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir formally welcomed the new commerce secretary to the ministry and introduced him to the ministry's other officials.

Earlier, the public administration ministry, in a circular on May 25, said the government had appointed Ataur Rahman Khan, an additional secretary to the ministry of home affairs, as the commerce secretary.
