Gold is set to hit a fresh high tomorrow, extending its rally in line with global markets, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

The trade body, in a press release today, said gold will be sold at Tk 234,679 per bhori tomorrow, the highest price on record in Bangladesh, two days after it raised the rate to Tk 232,055 per bhori.

Globally, gold surged to a record high today as geopolitical and economic uncertainties pushed investors toward safe-haven assets, while expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts added momentum, Reuters reported. Silver also rose.

Spot gold was up 1.1 percent at $4,635.99 per ounce by 09:04 a.m. ET (1404 GMT), after earlier touching a record high of $4,641.40.

In Bangladesh, gold prices had remained below Tk 230,000 per bhori since December 29 before crossing that mark.
