Dhaka stocks up in morning trade

Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose in the opening hour of trading today, rebounding from a three-day losing streak. 

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, increased 14.75 points, or 0.26 percent, to 5,487.90 by 11:24 am, according to DSE data.

The mood was similarly positive across the board: the Shariah-compliant DSES inched up 0.22 percent to 1,190.91, while the blue-chip DS30 went up 0.13 percent to 2,132.86.

Turnover, an indicator of investor activity, reached Tk 248.30 crore at the time.

Market breadth was positive, with 197 issues advancing against 101 declining, and 93 holding steady.

Among the notable moves, S Alam Cold Rolled Steels shot up 9.6 percent to top the gainers' list, while  Information Services Network slid 3.77 percent, posting the worst fall of the session so far.
