China wants to import 1,000 tonnes of hilsa from Bangladesh

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen has expressed interest in importing 1,000 tonnes of hilsa fish from Bangladesh, as the local variety has high demand in China.
The initial demand is 1,000 tonnes, with the possibility of increasing imports, he said.
The envoy made the remarks during a meeting with Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin at the commerce secretariat in Dhaka, according to a statement from the commerce ministry.
The Chinese ambassador also conveyed his country's willingness to invest in mango, jackfruit, and guava cultivation in Bangladesh and increase imports of these fruits from the South Asian nation.
The commerce adviser sought more Chinese investment in Bangladesh, particularly in manufacturing plants for trucks and modern agricultural equipment.
