Merchandise shipments from Bangladesh fell for the eighth consecutive month in March, posting an 18.07 percent year-on-year decrease to $3.48 billion, as global volatility cut shipments of garments, the country’s biggest export item.

Although single-month remittance inflow was the highest in March, monthly merchandise export earnings hit the lowest level during the same period.

Garment exports declined 19.35 percent year-on-year to $2.78 billion in March, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau released today.
