Latest austerity move: No vehicle purchase for govt institutions
The government has ordered all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions to stop purchasing vehicles, including ships and aircraft.
The government has taken various austerity measures in the wake of the global economic situation following Covid-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war.
Three separate circulars of the Ministry of Finance have been issued in this regard today (July 3, 2022).
According to the circulars, no more than 50 percent of the allocation for government, semi-government and autonomous institutions can be spent on entertainment, computers and related expenses.
Also, all training expenses have to be completed within 50 percent of the allocation and all honorarium allowances will be discontinued.
Also, the government will stop spending on low-priority projects for the time being.
