'Rape Attempt': Woman takes matters into own hands

A housewife cut off the genital of a youth to save herself from rape at Savar village under Saturia upazila on Friday night.

Local Union Parishad member Abdur Razzak said the youth, Moslem Uddin, 29, lured the housewife to a meeting next to his house with an offer of money and cellphone.

At one stage, Moslem allegedly tried to rape the housewife and she cut off his genital with a blade to save her. Moslem escaped the scene before anybody arrived there.

The husband of the housewife alleged that Moslem had been trying to lure his wife by mobile phone set and money for long.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Saturia police Hasmat Ullah said he had heard about the incident. Legal action would be taken if they filed a complaint, he added.
