The investigation committee formed over the killing of seven people in Rangamati's Baghaichhari upazila visited the spot yesterday.

After visiting the Noymile area, where the incident took place, the committee members spoke to the injured in Baghaichari Upazila Health Complex.

Additional Secretary Dipak Chakrabarty, the chief of the committee, told the journalists that primarily they were suspecting it to be a planned ambush as the miscreants had carried out the attack from a very close distance.

“But we cannot provide more details right now. We are trying to collect all the information related to the attack and will inform details in within ten days.” he added.

Later, they talked to the family members of the victims.

Meanwhile, Baghaichhari upazila Awami League and Baghaichari Muktijoddha Sangsad jointly organised a human chain protesting the attack and they demand immediate arrest of the criminals involved in the incident.

Seven people, including two polling officials and four Ansar men, were shot dead in Baghaichhari on March 18 during the second phase of upazila polls.

Police last night filed a case against some 40 to 50 unidentified assailants with Rangamati's Baghaichhari Police Station in connection with the killings.
