At least 3 dead from ‘alcohol poisoning’, dozen others hospitalised

At least three people have died reportedly from alcohol poisoning and a dozen others are admitted in hospital, after an event on Friday at a Gazipur resort.

Two of them passed away on Sunday and another died earlier today while undergoing treatment in a Dhaka hospital.

All of them were working in media related organisations.

Sources said, around 41 employees of the organisations went to the resort in Gazipur on Friday. Some of them had mixed alcoholic beverage at the resort. On the way back to Dhaka some of them became sick, a team member, wishing to remain anonymous, who also received treatment told The Daily Star.

Ten of them are still hospitalised, he added. "We are providing blood samples to check the source of poisoning," he said.
