Brazilian officials were so disappointed after the defeat in the 1950 World Cup final against Uruguay that they 'forgot' to organise the ceremony for the presentation of the Cup. It was left to tournament founder Jules Rimet to hand over the trophy to Uruguayan captain Obdulio Varela.
