Nesta likely to miss out

The chances of Italy's central defender Alessandro Nesta being fit to face Germany in the World Cup semifinals are "very remote", Azzurri chief press officer Antonello Valentini said here on Sunday. The 30-year-old centre-back has missed Italy's last two matches with a groin strain and is still struggling to recover from the injury. Palermo's Andrea Barzagli replaced Nesta in the 3-0 quarterfinal win against Ukraine, but that was due to Marco Materazzi's one-match suspension.
