Probad (proverb), bachan, probachan (folk saying) and shilok (riddles) are part of our rich Bengali folk culture. Unlike folk songs, these collections of oral wisdom are almost in oblivion in today's urban society, modernised by science and technology. Yet, the importance of probad, bachan, probachan and shilok remains timeless and reminds us of our unique heritage.
