Photo Feature Homage to Saraswati Amirul Rajiv On January 28, fifty-two ornate statues of Goddess Saraswati watched over Jagannath Hall, in Dhaka University, blessing Hindu devotees and visitors from all walks of life. Saraswati, a graceful goddess in white, symbolises knowledge, wisdom and creativity. Every year, Dhaka University students celebrate Saraswati Puja by erecting shrines to the deity, who is revered for her purifying and enriching powers. The students of the Faculty of Fine Art constructed a 35-foot-tall idol of the Goddess in the hall pond. According to them, it's the largest idol in the world made from jute.
