The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has appointed nine gazetted “July warriors” as training service assistants in various departments on a temporary basis.

An official order, signed by CPA Chief Personnel Officer Md Nasir Uddin on January 12, confirmed the appointments.

According to the order, the CPA board, in its meeting on November 9, 2025, approved the decision to recruit the nine gazetted July warriors. Subsequently, agreements were signed for their temporary appointments as training service assistants in various departments, including administration.

The nine appointees are: Arabi Mohammad Al Miraj, Mohammad Sakil, Md Meheraj Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Md Shefatul Kader, Saiful Islam, Mohammad Tarek, Md Amir Hossain, and Md Ibrahim.

Contacted, CPA Director (Admin) Md Omar Faruk told The Daily Star that the July warriors appealed to the CPA for jobs much earlier. The CPA board made the decision based on the appeals.

He added that they were appointed temporarily for one year only, in line with the finance ministry’s engagement policy for outsourcing service workers.

He added that these posts are not included in the revenue. Their appointment letters were issued with consolidated payment under a “no work, no pay” system.

When asked about the regularisation of their jobs in the future, Faruk said that the appointed persons would need to apply through the due process during any future permanent recruitment. Only if they pass the written and viva tests would the authority consider their regularisation in accordance with the rules.

The office order also said the concerned departments will submit their attendance sheets to the administration department on a monthly basis. Based on these sheets, the administration department will prepare service bills and forward them to the finance and accounts department, which will then arrange the monthly payment of service charges to the appointees’ respective bank accounts.
