Home Affairs Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today announced that the ministry has issued instructions to recruit 180 police sergeants to fill long-vacant positions across the country.

“We have issued instructions today to recruit 180 police sergeants, and the recruitment will be completed very soon through due examinations,” Salahuddin said during a briefing at the ministry today.

He said the ministry was also working to increase manpower and, subject to clearance from the finance ministry, was planning to recruit 10,000 new constables.

Salahuddin also said the government would take initiatives to recruit sub-inspectors and assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) through the Public Service Commission.
