Govt college teachers in Bagerhat protest proposed exclusion of education and health cadres

Teachers from various government colleges in Bagerhat yesterday formed a human chain to protest against the Public Administration Reform Commission's recommendation to exclude the education and health cadres from the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) structure.
The teachers staged the demonstration in front of the administrative building of Bagerhat Government Prafulla Chandra College.
Professor Shah Alam Farazi, principal of Bagerhat Government Women's College, and Assistant Professor Rafiqul Islam from Prafulla Chandra College, among others, spoke at the event.
During the demonstration, the speakers voiced their concerns over the commission's proposals, criticising the perceived inter-cadre discrimination.
They further emphasised that excluding the education and health cadres would undermine the nation's administrative efficiency. They also urged the government to prioritise national interests by retaining cadre-specific expertise in ministry operations.
Meanwhile, BCS officials from Government Harganga College, Government Women's College, District Agricultural Extension Department, District Animal Resources Department and Civil Surgeon's Office formed a human chain in front of the Munshiganj Press Club in Munshiganj town around 11:00am.
