Tarique Rahman to tour nine northern districts from Jan 11

BNP acting chairman to pay respects, attend prayers during four-day visit

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is set to begin a tour outside Dhaka, starting with visits to several districts in the northern region of the country.

According to the schedule, Tarique will leave Dhaka on January 11 and return on January 14. During the four-day trip, he will visit nine districts.

He will begin the tour with visits to Tangail, Sirajganj and Bogura, where he will stay overnight. On the following day, he will continue the tour by visiting Rangpur, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon.

On January 13, Tarique will travel from Thakurgaon to Panchagarh, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat before returning to Rangpur for the night.

He will conclude the tour on January 14, returning to Dhaka via Bogura from Rangpur.

During the visit, Tarique will pay his respects at the graves of prominent figures, including Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, his relative Taiyeba Majumdar and Abu Sayed and others who were killed during the July uprising and over the past 15 years.

He will also attend prayer sessions and meet the families of those affected by the movement, including individuals who were injured or killed.

In a letter sent to deputy commissioners and returning officers, it was mentioned that the tour would be conducted as part of religious and social activities.

The letter also assured that the visit would comply with the guidelines set by the Bangladesh Election Commission, ensuring no violation of the electoral code of conduct.

Signed by Tarique Rahman's personal secretary, ABM Abdus Sattar, the letter further requested that necessary security and logistical arrangements be made to ensure the smooth conduct of the tour.
