BNP said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader should accept responsibility for the Madaripur bus accident that claimed 19 lives and resign from office.

"BNP's standing committee thinks that the government's road division is fully responsible for the accident. The bridges minister should resign from office shouldering all the responsibilities," the party said in a press release issued today.

The party held its standing committee meeting yesterday, where it discussed the accident and said the bus carried passengers without fitness certificate and a suspended route permit, resulting in the accident.

Party expressed deep shock and grief over the incident and offered prayers for the family members of the deceased.

The party also said the Supreme Court Bar Association election proves that no election could be held in a free and fair manner under the Awami League government.

It said Awami League used police force illegally and tarnished the sanctity of the country's apex court.
