A magnitude 3.1 earthquake shook Rangpur and its surrounding areas this afternoon.

The tremor, which lasted 27 seconds, was felt at 2:02pm. Meteorologist Mostafizur Rahman of the Rangpur Meteorological Office confirmed that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Rangpur Sadar.

No immediate reports of damage have been received following the quake.
