BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family is planning to take her to London for advanced treatment "if her physical condition improves."

The party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman's Adviser Mahdi Amin wrote this in a Facebook post today.

Efforts are underway to arrange a special air ambulance equipped with modern medical technology for her transfer, he wrote.

Mahdi added that Khaleda's son Tarique Rahman and his wife have already contacted the London hospital and the doctors under whose care Khaleda had recovered significantly during her four-month stay earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, who visited Khaleda at Evercare Hospital, today said preparations have been made to take her abroad for advanced treatment, but she has not yet reached the physical stability required for air travel.

Speaking to reporters after visiting Khaleda at Evercare Hospital, Manna said, "She cannot be taken abroad right now as she is not in the stable condition needed for flying. But they(doctors) think this will happen very soon," he said.

Options in Singapore and several European countries have been selected for her possible transfer, but no final decision has been made, he said.

Manna expressed hope that the former prime minister would recover soon and return home in good health.

Khaleda was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 on the advice of her medical board after being diagnosed with infections in her heart and lungs.

She is also suffering from pneumonia and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital's Coronary Care Unit (CCU) under the supervision of both local and foreign specialists.

Khaleda, 80, has long been suffering from multiple health complications, including heart problems, liver and kidney issues, diabetes, lung problems, arthritis, and eye-related illnesses. She has a permanent pacemaker and previously underwent stenting for her heart.

Last night, medical board sources said her kidney is not functioning properly.
