Bangladesh's foreign ministry today summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka, Pawan Badhe, to formally convey its serious concern over the Indian government permitting ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina to engage with mainstream Indian media, a senior diplomatic source told BSS this evening.

Officials reportedly conveyed that harbouring a fugitive currently under trial for crimes against humanity and granting her a platform to "spread hatred and advocate terrorist acts inside Bangladesh" is detrimental to fostering a constructive bilateral relationship between the two countries.

The Indian diplomat was asked to relay Bangladesh's request to New Delhi to immediately discontinue Hasina's access to media, the source added.
