28 public holidays for 2026 approved

The Advisory Council has approved the proposed list of 28 holidays for the 2026 calendar year, which includes general and executive holidays.

The approval came at the 47th meeting of the Advisory Council held today with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus in the chair at his office.

After the meeting, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed reporters at the Foreign Service Academy.

Of the holidays, 11 fall on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays), and government employees will practically enjoy 17 days off in total, he said.
