EC holds coordination meeting with 31 ministries ahead of national polls
The Election Commission (EC) is holding a coordination and preparatory meeting with the heads of 31 ministries and divisions this afternoon to ensure that the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election is conducted in a free, participatory, and fair manner.
The meeting began at 3:00pm at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka, as part of the EC's broader efforts to strengthen coordination among government bodies involved in election management.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin is presiding over the meeting, joined by the four other election commissioners.
According to a notice signed by Mohammad Monir Hossain, deputy secretary of the EC Secretariat, on October 26, the meeting aims to facilitate inter-ministerial discussions and coordination on election-related responsibilities.
The 31 ministries, divisions, and agencies invited to the meeting include the Cabinet Division, Bangladesh Bank, and the Ministries of Home Affairs, Public Administration, Finance, Health, Law, Information and Broadcasting, Local Government, and Education, the notice said.
Also among the invitees are senior representatives from the ministries of shipping, expatriates' welfare and overseas employment, agriculture, power, energy and mineral resources, and road transport and bridges.
Through the meeting, the EC seeks to finalise coordination mechanisms across relevant ministries and authorities to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process in the months leading up to the 13th national election.
