The former board secretary and exam controller of Chattogram Education Board, his son, former board chairman, and a system analyst were sued today for allegedly tampering the HSC result of the then-board secretary's son in 2023.

The accused are Professor Narayan Chandra Nath, 56, director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Chattogram, (now OSD in Dhaka); Kibria Masud Khan, 61, former system analyst of Chattogram Education Board; Narayan's son Nakshatra Chandra Nath, 20; and former board chairman Professor Mustafa Kamrul Akhter, 61.

Professor Kamal went to retirement on January 17, 2024, while Kibria went to retirement in 2023.

Ctg Education Board Secretary Professor AKM Shamsu Uddin Azad filed the case with Panchlaish Police Station on charges of forgery and tampering HSC result in 2023, confirmed its Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Solaiman.

According to board sources and police, Narayan's son Nakshatra Chandra Nath, a student of Chittagong Cantonment School and College, had controversially secured GPA 5 in the last 2023 HSC exams, even though he failed the pre-examination test. At that time, Narayan was holding a vital position in the education board.

The controversy surrounding the exam results began when an unidentified person applied for a review online of the HSC result, published on November 26, 2023, of Narayan's son. After the incident escalated, Narayan's wife, Banashree Das, lodged a general diary with the Panchlaish police station, denying any application for a review of their son's results.

Allegations also arose that an appeal had been made to the Chattogram board chairman to ignore the revision appeal, but later it was denied by the then-chairman, Prof Mustafa Kamrul Akhtar.

Later, police, after investigation, filed a report to the court in this regard. At the same time, Banashree Das sued two former secretaries of the Chattogram Education Board, Prof Abdul Alim and Prof Idris Ali, under the Cyber Security Act over the incident. That case is still under police investigation.

According to the case statement, during the tenure of Narayan, he, in collaboration with the other accused, changed the result of his son. They even tried to destroy OMR sheets in the education board.

Apart from that, his son was enrolled in a course at Premier University showing the forged certificate and transcript, when the results were not officially declared.
