Qamrul, Palak and 3 others shown arrested in four separate cases

Former food minister Qamrul Islam, former state minister for posts, telecommunications and information technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak and three others were shown arrested today in four cases filed with different police stations in Dhaka.
The three others are former inspector of general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, Jubo League leaders Abul Hossain and Nazrul Islam Kobiraj.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman passed the order after investigation officers produced them and submitted four separate petitions.
Qamrul Islam, Abul Hossain and Nazrul were shown arrested in a case filed with Lalbagh Police Station over the death of Mohammad Ali during the quota reform movement on July 19 last year.
In the meantime, Qamrul expressed dissatisfaction before the court as he had to walk on foot instead of lift. He also shouted at police forces for their activities.
Palak was shown arrested in a case filed against him under the Cyber Security Act with Kafrul Police Station over selling citizens' National ID (NID) information on October 7 last year.
With this, Palak was shown arrested in 54 cases filed with different police stations in connection to incidents during the quota reform movement.
Abudllah Al-Mamum Mamun and Palak were shown arrested in a case filed with Bhasantek Police Station over the death garment worker Md Fazlu in front of Diganta Filling Station in the Bhasantek area during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement on August 5.
Mamun was also shown arrested in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station over the death of Md Sabbir Howlader at Kazla of Jatrabari during the quota reform movement on August 4.
During today's hearing, all five accused were produced before the court under tight security.
