OC flees from police station after arrest in murder case

Former Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Alam, who was arrested yesterday in connection with a murder case, escaped from the custody of Uttara East Police Station in Dhaka today.
"He [Shah Alam] was held from Kushtia yesterday in a murder case. He was supposed to be produced before a Dhaka court today. But before that, he escaped from the police station this noon," Dhaka Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Talebur Rahman told The Daily Star.
Police said a team of Uttara East Police detained Shah Alam from the Kushtia Police Lines yesterday.
Shah Alam previously served as the OC of Uttara East Police Station during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Then, he was transferred to the In-Service Training Center in Kushtia.
Shah Alam was named as an accused in a murder case filed in connection with the attack on protesters during July uprising, police said.
