Father assaulted for protesting stalking in Faridpur

A man was assaulted for protesting the stalking of his daughter in Faridpur's Madhukhali upazila today.
Protesting the incident, teachers and students of Baghat Girls' High School and locals staged a human chain on Dhaka-Khulna Highway in front of the school at Baghat Bazar area this afternoon demanding the arrest of the perpetrator, Fardin Molla, 22.
Fardin is a resident of Baghat Dakshinpara village under Baghat union.
SM Nuruzzaman, officer in-charge of Madhukhali Police Station said, "We have received a written complaint. Legal action will be taken. We are working to arrest Fardin."
Locals said Fardin had long been stalking the victim. When the girl refused his advances, he became aggressive. She later informed her father about the harassment.
When the victim's father confronted Fardin and told him to stop harassing his daughter around 11:00am today, Fardin along with three to four associates assaulted him in the Bagat Bazar area.
As news of the assault spread, teachers and students of Baghat Girls' High School formed a human chain in front of the school on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
Fardin could not be reached for comments.
Contacted, Tofayel Molla, his father, said he did not hear about the incident.
