Ctg-8 BNP candidate Ershad Ullah shot during campaign rally

Ershad Ullah, convener of Chattogram city unit of BNP and the party's nominated candidate for the Chattogram-8 (Boalkhali, Chandgaon, Bayezid) constituency, was shot while conducting a campaign this evening.

The incident happened in the Purbo Bayezid area of the port city, said police.

According to Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bayezid Bostami Police Station, three people, including Ershad Ullah, were injured in the shooting carried out by unidentified assailants.

Following the attack, local party activists quickly rescued the injured and rushed them to Evercare Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Police went to the scene and brought the situation under control. The OC confirmed that police are investigating the incident.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, expressing deep concern and condemnation, demanded the arrest of the attackers, said BNP media cell.
