Road accidents claim lives of 1674 children in Jan 2020-Apr 2022
At least 1,674 children (between one month and 18-year-old) died in road accidents across the country between January 2020 and April 2022, according to Road Safety Foundation.
The organisation said most of the accidents occurred due to mismanagement and anarchy on the road and in the transport sector.
As many as 331 children died while travelling on various vehicles while 1,027 children died while crossing and walking along the road.
Forty-eight children died while driving or assisting drivers of goods-carrying vehicles and 268 died while riding motorcycles.
Among the deceased, 337 were between one month and 5 year old, 754 were between 6 and 12 years, and 583 were between 13 and 18.
