Five die after bus rams car on Dhaka-Chattogram highway

Five people died when a Feni-bound Starline Paribahan bus hit a private car from behind in front of Mayami Resort on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla’s Burichang upazila today.

The victims included the car driver and four members of the same family. The driver died on the spot, while the four passengers were declared dead when they were taken to a nearby hospital.

The deceased were identified as car driver Jamal Hossain, 52, of Barishal, and passengers Abdul Momin, 50, Jhorna Begum, 40, Labiba, 18, and Saif, 7, all from Noakhali.

The incident occurred around 6:00pm, confirmed Md Abdul Momin, officer-in-charge of Mainamati Highway Police Station.

The OC added that the bodies have been taken to a hospital, and police have seized the bus involved in the accident.
