Fire destroys 100 shops at Cumilla market

A fire gutted about 100 shops at Madhaiya Bazar in Cumilla's Chandina early today.
Six firefighting units of three stations took six hours to douse the fire, said Anil Kumer Gosh of Chandina fire station.
He said the fire might have originated from a sweet shop and spread quickly as the shops were made of bamboos and woods with tin-shed roofs, he said.
The cause of fire and extent of damage will be ascertained on completion of investigation, the fire official said.
