Bangabazar fire: Traders now relocating their goods from Annexco Tower
Traders are now relocating their goods from Annexco Tower, a building that was affected by the fire that burnt the Bangabazar Shopping Complex to the ground yesterday.
They were salvaging the remaining goods, mostly clothes, from the seven-storey building located next to the complex.
While some shopkeepers have managed to recover their merchandise manually from the building, others are using pick-ups and vans to remove the goods from this location.
"We cannot take this risk, especially after yesterday's incident. I am planning to have everything removed from this spot as soon as possible," said Delwar, the owner of a shop located on the 3rd floor of the Annexco Tower.
Smoke is still coming out of some parts of the building, said Jalal Uddin, a businessman.
"The fire has left many traders worried about their livelihood, especially with Eid being just around two weeks away," he added.
Kamruzzaman Ratna, another trader, said, "Although the recovery process is underway, the environment of this area has been completely destroyed. It will take the traders a while to get back on their feet."
